Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies faces a one-month driving ban and fine after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

Davies was stopped by police in the early hours of Thursday morning, with German newspaper BILD reporting he was breathalysed at 2.15am.

The registered a blood alcohol level of 0.6 grams per litre, over the legal limit in Germany of 0.5.

Reports in Germany state Davies is expected to lose his driving licence for one month and receive a €5,000 (£4,100) fine, as well as having two points put on his licence.

The sanction is due to the offence being viewed as administrative and not criminal under German law.

In Germany, the 0.8 grams per litre is the bar for a criminal offence to have taken place.

Davies had been stopped by police in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the star having been given Wednesday off by the club following their Champions League win a day earlier

Davies had reportedly been given a day off by Bayern Munich on Wednesday, following the club’s 1-0 win over PSG in the Champions League a day earlier.

BILD reported that Davies had joined friends at a Christmas market in front of the nightclub Lucky Who.

Davies was then reported to have moved onto another club, before being stopped by police in Munich.

German reports claim Davies is not expected to face any further punishment from Bayern Munich.

The full back had trained a normal on Friday ahead of the club’s Bundesliga clash with rivals Borussia Dortmund, which is known as Der Klassiker.

Bayern head into the match between Germany’s two most successful teams top of the Bundesliga.

Vincent Kompany’s side are six points clear of second placed Eintracht Frankfurt heading into the match.

Davies has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, starting nine times in the Bundesliga and in all five of their Champions League fixtures.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been widely linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United.
