As the festive season approaches, major UK supermarket Asda has unveiled its Christmas delivery slot booking dates for 2024, offering customers an early opportunity to secure their holiday food deliveries.

With just 10 weeks until Christmas, Asda is responding to the growing trend of early holiday preparations among shoppers.

The supermarket has reported a 27 per cent increase in online Christmas-related searches compared to the same period last year, indicating a heightened interest in festive planning.

To meet this demand, Asda is providing early access to its loyalty programme members and significantly increasing its delivery capacity.

Asda has announced a tiered approach to booking Christmas delivery slots. Asda Delivery Pass customers will have priority access, with slots opening on October 15.

All other Asda customers can reserve their slots from October 22, allowing some shoppers to organise their deliveries more than two months in advance of Christmas Day.

To meet the increased demand, Asda is offering over one million home delivery and click-and-collect slots in the week leading up to Christmas. This expanded capacity aims to ensure customers can secure their preferred delivery times for their festive food shopping.

Interim senior director of Asda.com Georgina Bell commented: “Before we know it, the festive season is upon us, and lots of our customers will be looking at ways they can get ahead of the preparations.

“This year in particular, we’ve seen a significant increase in online searches for Christmas products, from as early as mid-September.

“Shoppers can also make changes or additions to their basket up until 11pm the night before their delivery or collection, which we know is important for those ever-evolving Christmas plans to celebrate with family and friends.”

Tesco, another major UK supermarket, has also announced its Christmas delivery plans. Delivery Saver customers will have early access to booking slots from 6am on November 5, while all other customers can book from 6am on November 12.

This is one week earlier than last year, giving shoppers more time to secure their preferred slots.

Tesco has bolstered its delivery capacity by adding 60 more vans to its fleet. This expansion will provide thousands of extra slots across the UK in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.
