  • Arsenal drew a blank again in front of goal as they lost in the FA Cup third round
  • They have struggled for goals for a while with Mikel Arteta looking for solutions
  • IAN LADYMAN: Premier League clubs are so wrapped up in their own self-interest. They want what suits them and that’s not FA Cup replays – It’s All Kicking Off

Arsenal fans were left crying out for a new forward as their team struggled in front of goal once again against Liverpool.

The Gunners missed a number of great opportunities in a game they mostly dominated in the FA Cup third round, eventually drawing a blank as the Reds ran out 2-0 winners.

A Jakub Kiwior own goal accompanied a Luis Diaz strike to seal the win for Liverpool, who would have been happy to go into half time level with the home side somehow not finding the back of the net in the first half.

Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all missed good opportunities in a game where Mikel Arteta’s side registered an xG of 1.89. They have also scored just one goal from 6.47xG over the last three games.

Arsenal fans took to social media to call for a new striker, as it became clear where Gunners are lacking in their side.

Another excellent display from Arsenal, everything points that we need a world class striker #ARSLIV

If it was clear to anyone before today, arsenal need a goalscorer BIG TIME

‘Another excellent display from Arsenal,’ one supporter said on X, formerly Twitter. ‘Everything points that we need a world class striker.’

Another added: ‘If it was clear to anyone before today, arsenal need a goalscorer BIG TIME.’

Gabriel Jesus missed the game through injury but has scored just three goals in 15 appearances in the Premier League so far this season, with Eddie Nketiah benched for Havertz on Sunday.

With the transfer window open, Arsenal may opt to move for a striker, and would be willing to do so if the right opportunity arises.

Scored only one goal in 3 matches & conceded 6!!!

What a miserable misnormer!

IT’S ALL KICKING OFF!

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football, with a show every Monday and Thursday this season.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify

The Gunners have now lost three games in a row in all competitions, with back-to-back Premier League defeats to Fulham and West Ham coming before the weekend defeat.

‘Scored only one goal in 3 matches & conceded 6!!!’ said one angered fan of the run. ‘What a miserable misnormer! Arteta does not show any form of flexibility: “Do not be too predictable, O Arteta!”‘

Arsenal will face Crystal Palace next in the Premier League.
