Arsenal fans claim the Premier League has ‘exposed’ their set-piece tactics after posting an analysis video on social media… with Gunners supporters demanding they ‘shut up and leave us alone’

  • Arsenal fans have slammed the Premier League for ‘exposing’ their tactics
  • The league had posted an analysis video of Gabriel’s goal against Crystal Palace
  • Be careful what you wish for Palace fans! Do you want to become a yo-yo club? It’s All Kicking Off

Arsenal fans have hit out at the Premier League after they posted an analysis video of their corner tactics on social media.

Mikel Arteta’s side got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, claiming a 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel was a standout during their match, heading in from a corner in the 11th minute of the game to break the deadlock.

But the Premier League took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday to laud the Gunners for their excellent play at the set-piece, posting an analysis video of how Leandro Trossard opened up space inside the box to allow the defender to arrive and head in a corner from Declan Rice.

The video highlights how Trossard pulls Palace’s Joachim Andersen out of position, before showing Gabriel arriving to head the ball into the back of the net.

The Premier League captioned the video: ‘Clever play Arsenal’ while adding a ‘winking face’ emoji.

But Arsenal fans have taken umbrage at the tactical analysis, claiming that the league has now ‘exposed’ their tactics at set-pieces.

One fan wrote on X: ‘I’m sorry but no other club gets analysed like this. Please shut up and leave us alone.’

Another said: ‘Call me paranoid but I never see another clubs set pieces analysed like this. So many articles. Back to the training pitch lads – use this in a positive way.’

‘They’re now declaring war in our set pieces… Which other team comes under this level of scrutiny? They never miss an opportunity,’ said another.

Gabriel was back in the thick of the action soon after, this time arriving at the back post to nod a corner from Bukayo Saka towards the goal, which Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson deflected into the back of his own net to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

‘Why is the Premier League exposing our tactics? It started with the Ødegaard cut back finishes, if you remember,’ another said.

‘Shame on you Premier League! Exposing our secrets that set-piece dedicated analysts who get paid 50k a year can’t spot!’

Arsenal went on to put five goals past Palace, with Trossard scoring in the second half, before substitute Gabriel Martinelli netted a brace in injury time.

Despite that, the Gunners were lauded for their tactical masterclass at full-time by TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand.

He also praised their set-piece coach Nicolas Jover who was seen stood in the technical area throughout the match.

‘Yeah, I mean Mikel Arteta would have been really pleased with his team,’ he said to TNT Sports.

‘They haven’t really given Palace a sniff up to this point either. But a set piece very important it’s a fantastic header, he’s attacked it so well Gabriel.’

He added: ‘Nicholas Jover is the set piece coach, he was recruited for Man City actually in the summer of 2021. He’s doing his job.

‘What you’ve done in Dubai is working. I mean, they’ve got the most set piece goals this season 13 and 10 corners they scored from so they’re doing a really good job in that area.’
