Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet look set to have upcoming roles in the newly-named Archewell Philanthropies, according to a new statement on the charity’s website.

The previous Archewell Foundation was founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020 after they left the UK and quit being working royals.

Five years later, the charity has announced it is rebranding as Archewell Philanthropies, with the former URL “archewell.org” becoming “archewellphilanthropies.org”.

On the new website, the following statement appears: “Archewell Philanthropies is home to the charitable work of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they broaden their global philanthropic efforts for meaningful reach and maximum impact.

“After five beautiful years, the Archewell Foundation is becoming Archewell Philanthropies.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are also mentioned as part of the framework for the charity rebrand.

The statement concluded: “This charitable entity allows the couple and their children to expand upon their global philanthropic endeavors as a family.”

It is not clear yet what role Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, will have within the charity, but they will likely accompany their parents on public engagements where they can.

This happened in November when the children joined Meghan and Harry in serving their Los Angeles community, working alongside the Archewell team at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles to prepare meals for vulnerable residents.

The Sussexes and their children were pictured packaging meals destined for schools, shelters, senior centres and various community groups across the city.

Photographs from this engagement were also featured in Harry and Meghan’s Christmas video, released earlier today.

The children are being raised as a prince and princess, titles they are entitled to as grandchildren of the British monarch.

Despite having royal titles, Archie and Lilibet are growing up in Montecito, away from their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Archewell’s mission statement is “Show up, do good”, and is led by Executive Directors James Holt and Shauna Nep.

This year, the charity advocated for safer digital spaces and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI).

It has also funded support for children affected by the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

The Archewell Foundation takes its name from “arche”, the ancient Greek word meaning “source of action”, and “well”, symbolising “a plentiful source or supply, a place we go to dig deep”.

The Sussexes’ spokeswoman told GB News: “This next chapter allows Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to broaden their global philanthropic efforts as a family, with meaningful reach and maximum impact, grounded in the same values, partnerships, and their commitment to show up and do good.

“This milestone also marks an important moment to reflect on what has been achieved over the past five years.”
