Arch Manning will start his first college football game this weekend for Texas against upstarts Louisiana-Monroe due to an injury to Longhorns’ opening-day starter Quinn Ewers.

Manning came into the Longhorns’ game last weekend during the second quarter due to an oblique strain from Ewers. Texas defeated UTSA 56-7 and claimed the No 1 ranking in the country.

Texas’ final game before their first dive into Southeastern Conference competition comes against the Warhawks, who are 44.5-point underdogs despite being 2-0.

Louisiana-Monroe is led by Texas native General Booty at quarterback, who is hoping his team can pull off the monumental upset.

Both Ewers and Manning are former five-star prospects, with the latter throwing for 223 yards and racking up five total touchdowns against the Roadrunners.

Should Ewers injury persist, Manning would get a chance to start a conference game in the league where his uncles and grandfather dominated decades prior.

Eli and Archie Manning were stars at Ole Miss, while Peyton Manning had an incredible career at Tennessee.

Texas’ first SEC game has been looming for more than three years, as its move to the conference, alongside rivals Oklahoma, was announced in July 2021.

Arch Manning backed up Ewers last season, as Texas made it to the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Never during that time did they hold the top overall ranking in the country. Before this week, the last time the Longhorns were at No 1 was in 2008, when Arch was 3.

Now comes a grand opportunity for the next chapter of the Manning football dynasty.
