Lisa Armstrong seemed to take another thinly veiled dig at her ex-husband Ant McPartlin on her social media account and shared a quote about what a “true husband” should be.

Despite the couple splitting six years ago, it seems the make-up artist is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that McPartlin has remarried and had a son – Wilder.

Posting an image of a man’s hand holding a woman’s with an engagement ring, she captioned the post with a quote: “Marry a man who wants to be a husband, not a man who just wants a wife.

“A man who wants to be a husband is a man who’s willing to provide, protect and fulfil your dreams. He is ready to do whatever he can to make things work.

“A man who just wants a wife is a man who’s only thinking about what you can do for him, and not what he can do for you.”

On top of discovering that McPartlin welcomed his son into the world, Armstrong also split with her electrician boyfriend after three years, with a source claiming it came “out of the blue”.

They told the Daily Mail: “I don’t really know what has gone wrong, the two of them were only on a swanky holiday together in the Caribbean. He was with her one day, and he just wasn’t with her the next day. There was no inkling that anything was wrong.”

Armstrong’s recent dig isn’t the first time that she has alluded to them being pointed towards her ex-husband, as she recently shared a post about “d***heads” soon after her ex Ant McPartlin was spotted out with his baby son.

The 47-year-old shared a series of posts to her Instagram stories recently and – according to The Daily Mirror – the first read: “I saw a post that said: ‘If you want a happy and healthy life, you need to avoid d***heads, not carbohydrates.’

“I think we’d all benefit from hearing this today.”

She went on to post another message the following day which read: “Sometimes you just have to let people be. Be who they are, do what they do, act how they act, say what they say.

“Let them live their version of reality, let them sit with their lies and delusion while you sit with the truth in peace.”

Back in May, McPartlin, 48, shared a black and white image of himself alongside his new son and captioned the post: “Born, 14/05/24 at 8.54am. Baby is beautiful, Mummy’s a legend, Sisters are over the moon. Dad’s a mess!”

Just hours after the post, Armstrong posted a quote by Winston Churchill to her Instagram story which read: “I no longer listen to what people say, I watch what they do. Behaviour never lies.”

Whilst they were together, McPartlin and Armstrong adopted their pup Hurley, who is now at the centre of a custody battle after the TV presenter refused to surrender full custody and reportedly told his lawyers: “She can have anything she wants – except the dog.”

Armstrong expressed her wish to care for the pup full-time in February, with her close friends noting that her desire is stronger than ever following the birth of McPartlin’s son.
