Just when you thought Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Robbie Dolan’s week couldn’t get any better, he gets to do a duet onstage with singer and fellow Irishman Ronan Keating.

After winning the great race aboard $81 outsider Knight’s Choice on Tuesday, Dolan has proved he’s got a great voice at the Crown Oaks Club Lunch in front of 1250 guests on Wednesday.

The pair sang When You Say Nothing At All, Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl, and Ronan Keating’s Life is a Rollercoaster.

‘I haven’t sang with Ronan before and we did a sound check, it was great,’ Dolan told News Corp.

‘It’s up there, it’s funny I thought I’d reached a level but it just keeps going up.’

Dolan, who was clutching the winning jockey’s cup the whole time he was on stage, mentioned on Tuesday after the race how much he admired Keating.

Keating, who placed a bet on Dolan, was pictured hugging him afterwards.

‘He sang my song when he was on The Voice so I just had to go and see him,’ he said via Racenet.

Dolan – from County Kildare, west of Dublin – moved with his family to Australia eight years ago and had originally planned to stay for 12 months but fell in love with the country.

A talented vocalist, the 28-year-old appeared on The Voice in 2022 and performed Daryl Braithwaite’s unofficial Cox Plate anthem ‘The Horses’ at The Valley that year.

‘I will be singing tonight after a few beers,’ Dolan said.

‘It’s amazing and a lot of people doubted this little horse. Doubt me now.’

Dolan had previously stated that he would have to sensationally give up racing if he ever won Australia’s big race.

But amid the celebrations, Dolan backtracked on those comments, stating: ‘I won’t be giving up. That feeling was too good.

‘I can’t believe it. I watched all the Melbourne Cups of the last 40 years last night and I thought my best chance was if I could get him to stay the trip and hopefully, I could rattle home.

‘He just proved everybody wrong. This is the biggest race in the world and winning it is incredible.’
