Angel Adoree and Dick Strawbridge cultivated a loyal following through Escape to the Chateau, but fans are also intrigued by their unique relationship and life.
The couple haven’t delved much into the beginnings of their relationship, but in a recent interview, they discussed the early stages of their romance.
In the latest episode of their podcast, Dick & Angel’s Chat…Eau, the couple reminisced on getting to know each other.
With a 20-year age gap, the two weren’t seen as a conventional couple, and Dick made a hilarious admission.
“I introduced you as my personal trainer…” he recalled as they discussed meeting each other’s family and friends.
“I remember that, I was just getting to know your family and how wonderful and lovely they are,” Angel began.
“And you left me alone with this lovely couple, and they started to talk to me about what regimes I do with you and what my fitness was and stuff.
“I can’t believe you literally dropped me in it and walked off and I just didn’t know what to say.
“I was like… ‘track?’ and thinking of the Olympics – cycling!”
Laughing, the two recalled how they used to dress differently, with Angel admitting she felt she had to look formal.
She explained she would dress “elegantly” but due to having “red hair and red lipstick” she felt Dick’s friends didn’t take her seriously.

“I wouldn’t ever want to embarrass you in that situation,” she told Dick, to which he sweetly responded: “You never could do.”
“Well the thing was in those circumstances, you had the power – you did, but I could’ve easily done a few things to embarrass you.”
Reflecting on the fun they managed to have, Dick added: “We had a lovely time. People don’t know the early stages but we’ve had such laughs all the way through.”
He went on to admit: “Because we are the odd couple. We’re 20 years difference, and sort of the crusty colonel and the gorgeous girl.
“The whole thing is an odd story and we’ve laughed about it.”
“Well you don’t dress in that sort of way anymore,” Angel added, referring to his military roots.
She continued: “I just remember it was the first time that we were together that you dressed like someone that I didn’t recognise.
“And I thought it was really sweet and funny. And even when you got dressed up for this weekend you looked really, really smart – but it’s not a look that I would want to have you in every day.”
Laughing, she brutally added: “Because you do look like crusty colonel.”
“Wow that’s hurtful,” Dick replied, to which Angel quickly added: “But a really handsome one!”
