Andrew Pierce fumes at Welsh Parliament paying £250k for GB News-blocking software

GB News host Andrew Pierce has been left fuming after the Welsh government paying nearly £250,000 to block GB News and said “How dare they?”

Last October, the Welsh parliament was accused of “censorship” after using a system to ban GB News from its televisions.

A spokesperson for the Presiding Officer at the time said the decision had been taken because the channel was “contrary to our parliament’s values.”

They advised staff and members who want to watch the channel to “do so online”.

Last week it was revealed by GB News that the Welsh Parliament paid £233,000 for the new software.

Speaking on GB News Bev Turner said: “The Welsh Parliament has paid a quarter of £1 million to change their software in their buildings, so they can’t get GB News.

Andrew Pierce said that it is “outrageous”

Andrew teased: “I think it’s because they heard you, and they thought no more of that.”

Bev responded: “I can’t believe this. It is outrageous.” Realising her co-hosts jibe she said: “I think probably you’re more of a thorn in their side than I am.”

Sharing a viewers point of view she said: “Richard says the problem with all the other media is that they are all jealous, because TV news is a breath of fresh air, and it tells the truth.

Andrew added: “It’s a very serious point, though. How dare they use taxpayers’ money to prevent a recognised broadcaster?

Andrew Pierce told Mark Drakeford to come on the show

“It’s a Labour government in Wales. The Welsh Parliament employs thousands of people. It is a disgrace.

Bev said: “If you have nothing to be frightened of down there then you should have nothing to block should you?

“Brett says I also can’t believe the Welsh Parliament has blocked GB news. You are right. We, as the viewing public, should be given the choice to decide what we watch and interpret the information as we choose.

“Freedoms seem to be being eroded day-by-day.”

Bev and Andrew fumed about the “undemocratic” policy

Andrew said: “Of course, the First Minister stands down in May doesn’t he? You won’t be missed, Mr. Drakeford, but if you’d like to come on to defend that absolutely outrageous, undemocratic policy, we’re here for you.

“Even if people in the Welsh Parliament wouldn’t be able to hear the interview with us because you’ve blocked it.”

Penny Mordaunt, Leader of the House of Commons, spoke out in support of GB News in October.

She said: “In Labour-controlled Wales, news programming available on Freeview has been banned from the Senedd. Is it because Labour doesn’t want to listen to the facts?”
