Andrew Flintoff’s 16-year-old son Rocky fired a quickfire century for England Lions against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane.
Flintoff, who signed his first professional contract with Lancashire in June, struck nine fours and six sixes in a 127-ball 108 while batting at number nine to turn the four-day match in the Lions’ favour.
His father, on his first tour as Lions coach, watched on as his son helped lift the Lions from 161 for seven to 319 all out for a first-innings lead of 105 on the second day.
The former England captain returned to cricket life last summer after a serious car accident suffered while filming for the BBC’s Top Gear show in December 2022, initially as a coach with the senior men’s side.
He was appointed as Lions coach on an initial 12-month contract in September.
During Thursday’s match, Cricket Australia XI reached 33 for one at close to trail by 72 runs with nine wickets remaining.

In the hosts’ first innings, Lions bowler Pat Brown took a hat-trick on his way to five for 21 as they recovered from 55 for four to reach 214 all out.
The Lions’ recovery in their reply was also aided by opener Alex Davies’ 76 and Freddie McCann’s 51, but it was Flintoff, who turned 16 last April, who stole the show.
Flintoff was a late call-up for the Lions tour after making a century for Lancashire’s second XI in April before making his first-class debut in July.
The teenager’s inclusion continued his impressive progress having only made his first-class debut for Lancashire back in August.
He has scored 32 in his maiden first-class innings for Lancashire against Surrey, becoming the 10th-youngest debutant ever in the County Championship
Flintoff was given his first professional contract by Lancashire during the summer and has now played four first-class matches and seven list A matches.
He had gained attention earlier this year by scoring a ton against Warwickshire in a second XI match in April, while he also scored a match winning century for the England Under-19s in July.
The youngster will be eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, with Andrew having played 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals and seven T20s across a glittering career.

The all-rounder, whose England career spanned between 1999 and 2009, was integral to England’s historic Ashes against Australia in 2005.
Following his retirement from cricket, Andrew became a TV personality and presenter, notably joining as a host of Top Gear in 2019 alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris.
Since the near-fatal crash incident in 2022, Andrew, who admitted he is ‘lucky to be alive’, was been a part of England’s limited-overs coaching team.
He has been in charge of the Lions side now for over four months, having been confirmed as the new head coach on an initial one-year deal back in September.
