Amazon has unveiled plans which will see the creation of more than 2,000 new jobs in the East Midlands.
The multi-national company outlined plans to build a new multi-million pound fulfillment centre in Northampton which will start taking customer orders from 2026.
This investment in the region will see around 1,4000 jobs created from the new site’s launch which is expected to rise to 2,000 roles within three years of operating.
Among the jobs that will be created include roles engineering, HR and IT, health and safety and finance specialists roles.
As well as this, there will be jobs created for workers to pick, pack and ship customer orders.
According to Amazon, this new site will be latest fulfilment centre featuring three floors of robotics.

In these floors, products will be stowed and customer orders picked using advanced technology.
Louise Wall, Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce’s chief executive, praised the company’s decision to open the new building in the area.
She said: “Amazon’s investment in Northamptonshire will create thousands of new jobs in one of the most advanced buildings of its type in the world.
“This is a significant endorsement of the strategic location of the SEGRO Logistics Park Northampton and the importance of our region’s role in the UK logistics industry.”
Neil Travis, Amazon’s regional director, added: “The East Midlands is an important region for Amazon, with more than 6,000 small- and medium-sized enterprise selling partners.
“I am delighted to confirm our ongoing commitment with this £500million investment in a new, state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Northampton.
“The new site will create more than 2,000 new jobs, taking our total workforce in the East Midlands to more than 10,000 full and part-time roles, and our investment in the region to more than £4 billion since 2010.
“Amazon continues to invest in our buildings and innovative technology to provide our people with some of the most advanced workplaces of their kind in the world, ensuring their wellbeing while delivering for our customers.”
Last month, Amazon confirmed plans hundreds of jobs as the company makes a shift in its wider business strategy.
The e-commerce company announced it is cutting “a few hundred roles” in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) computing unit that oversees technology used in its physical stores.
