Amazon drops 55-inch Fire TV to £150, but you need an invite

Looking for a bargain big-screen telly? Amazon has unleashed an incredible deal on its Fire TV 4-Series – dropping the price of the 4K TV by a massive 73% on its website and mobile apps. But this price crash is so good, Amazon is not allowing every shopper access to it.

Yes, the online retailer is limiting the number of people who can purchase the discounted Fire TV 4-Series, which usually costs £550 but has hit a record-low of £149.99 in the Black Friday sales.

To ensure the telly doesn’t sell out, Amazon is offering the 55-inch Fire TV “by invitation” only.

You’ll need to have an active Prime membership to apply for an invitation to buy the telly. If you aren’t a subscriber, you can sign-up for a 30-day free trial and cancel anytime to pay nothing (but still benefit from all of the perks, including the £400 price drop on this Amazon-designed television).

How To Unlock 73% Discount On Fire TV 4-Series

If you’re not familiar with the Fire TV 4-Series, you can find all of the details on the Amazon website here. This incredible £400 invite-only discount is exclusively available on the 55-inch model.

Amazon will be sending out invites to purchase the Fire TV 4-Series until November 25, 2023. Only those who receive an invite via email will be able to buy the discounted 55-inch Smart TV, which is powered by the same operating system found on Amazon’s best-selling Fire TV Stick.

To apply for an invitation, you’ll need to head to the product page and ensure you’re logged into an Amazon account with an active Prime membership.

Click on the Request Invite button, which sits where you’d usually find the Add To Basket button.

If you’re lucky, Amazon will send a unique link that lets you buy the Fire TV 4-Series. Remember to only use the link from that email, since this is the only way that Amazon is able to verify that you’re eligible.

And that’s it. Fingers crossed.

Amazon has built its chatty AI assistant Alexa into its Fire TVs, so you can find shows, open apps, and control playback with your voice

AMAZON PRESS OFFICE

Amazon Fire TV 4-Series, which launched in the UK back in March, is a custom-designed television that runs on the same FireOS software found on Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube devices. That means you’ll find the same selection of apps – Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Prime Video, Apple TV+, All4 – and games, as well as support for voice controls via chatty AI assistant, Alexa.

The 4-Series is available in 43-, 50-, and 55-inch screen sizes and uses a 4K Ultra HD panel, which offers 4x as many pixels as standard 1080p High Definition (HD). It packs four HDMI ports, including three HDMI 2.0 ports and one HDMI 2.1 with eARC to quickly pair a soundbar.

Like the Fire TV 4-Series, it packs support for voice controls via Alexa. It also supports streaming apps including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and more. It supports the HDR 10 and HLG picture standards, as well as Dolby Vision – a feature that you won’t find on the Amazon-built competitor.

Of course, while £399 is still a healthy £150 discount on the RRP, it’s not as much of a price cut as the eye-popping £149.99 price tag on the Fire TV 4-Series. If you’re already happy with the screen size and picture quality of your current telly, but fancy some of the smart features available on the Fire TV 4-Series, you can add these to any TV with one of the Fire TV Stick set-top boxes.
