Officers say all the children onboard the bus were safely evacuated.

The force added there were no serious injuries and both vehicles were recovered.

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that one man was taken to Peterborough City Hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, no arrests have been made.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The A47 reopened at around 3am on Tuesday after being closed in both directions between the A141 for March and B1167 for Thorney.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a van that had spread to a bus and another van between Thorney Toll and Guyhirn.

“Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels.”

A police spokesperson added: “Fire crews from Wisbech and March attended and extinguished the fire before a recovery operation took place to remove the vehicles that were blocking the road.
