- Irish bookmaker Paddy Power will introduce a new board for the festive period
- The treble 20 bed, traditionally a bright red, will instead be changed to green
- The board will be made by Winmau and sit in the middle of a large green stage
A new look dartboard designed for this year’s World Darts Championship is set to be unveiled – with the treble 20 bed to change from its traditional shade of red.
Tournament sponsors Paddy Power, in a bid to turn the famous Alexandra Palace green for the festive event, will introduce the championship board at a launch event.
The showpiece, held between December 15 and January 3, is traditionally watched by millions and will now boast a number of new features on and around the oche.
Mail Sport understands that the treble 20 will instead be green.
The boards will be made and produced by Winmau, the official board supplier for the Professional Darts Corporation, and will sit in the centre of an entirely green stage.

Superstars like Michael van Gerwen will be among those throwing toward the striking design
Traditionally, the treble 20 is shaded red but sponsors Paddy Power have chosen a new colour
Green spotlights will also illuminate the 10,000-capacity venue in London.
Punters will be given a range of Paddy Power merchandise adorning the Irish bookmaker’s green colours over the course of the 17-day tournament.
Intriguingly, there is science behind the decision. Research has shown the colour green sits at the centre of the visual spectrum, with red and blue harder to see.
This may theoretically lead to improved precision and decreased eye fatigue.
The players will shortly be informed, with the Players Championship now wrapped up, and all tour card holders and qualifiers will be supplied with boards to practice.
