Callum Woodhouse has confirmed he will remain a permanent fixture in All Creatures Great and Small, with filming for the sixth season set to begin in February.

The actor, who plays Tristan Farnon in the Channel 5 series, revealed he’s “going to be another permanent fixture at Skeldale for a while” following his return to the show earlier this year.

“It’s been really nice being back with the family,” Woodhouse told Digital Spy, adding that his character’s brother Siegfried “is very happy to carry on having him around.”

Woodhouse revealed that Tristan has found his place in his new role as an instructor in Doncaster.

“I think he’s really enjoying it and still feeling like he’s contributing to the war effort, even though he’s not technically on the front line anymore,” he explained.

The actor described it as “a nice full-circle journey” for his character, who has transitioned from his previous posting with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps in Cairo to his current teaching position.

“It’s really nice to know that people relate and really enjoy the character that you play and what you bring to the table,” Woodhouse said.

He described the “outpouring of love” from fans as “very sweet” and “life-affirming as an actor”.

“It’s nice that Tristan is going to carry on bringing joy to people,” he added.

Speaking about the upcoming sixth season, Woodhouse revealed that filming will commence at the end of February.

The actor noted that scripts typically arrive at the start of the year, after the Christmas period.

While there have been “a few little teasers” about future storylines, Woodhouse remained cautious about specifics.

“When they give you these teasers, you don’t want to take it as gospel… because anything could change between then and there,” he explained.

Tristan’s permanent return follows his notable absence from both season four and the 2023 Christmas special.

During this period, his character was serving with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps in Cairo.
