Aldi has announced plans to open 11 new stores across the UK before Christmas 2024.

The discount supermarket chain will launch six new branches in November, followed by five more stores in December.

The expansion kicks off this week with new outlets opening in Sedgley in the West Midlands and Castle Douglas in Scotland.

The German-born retailer, which has been consistently voted the UK’s cheapest supermarket by watchdog Which?, will bring its value offering to communities across England, Scotland and Wales during the festive period.

The November openings continue with a new store at Tanbridge Retail Park in Horsham, West Sussex.

The Scottish county of Midlothian will see a new branch open on Straiton Road in Loanhead.

Completing the November launches is a store in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, bringing Aldi’s offering to another Welsh community.

December will see Aldi expand into five additional locations across the country.

A new store will open on Salisbury Road in Totton, Hampshire, while Bristol shoppers will welcome a branch at Cribbs Causeway.

The North East will gain a new store in Hetton-le-Hole, Tyne and Wear.

Greater Manchester’s retail landscape will expand with an Aldi opening on Princess Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Completing the December launches, Scottish customers will see a new store open on Duff Street in Macduff, Banffshire.

Jonathan Neale, Real Estate Managing Director at Aldi UK, emphasised the company’s commitment to expansion across Britain.

He said: “Our new store openings are a testament to our ongoing investment in the UK, and we’re thrilled to bring Aldi’s unbeatable prices to even more communities ahead of the festive season.”

The supermarket chain has maintained its position as Britain’s most affordable grocery retailer, with recent data showing shoppers could save up to £30.73 on an average basket compared to Waitrose.

These latest openings form part of Aldi’s ambitious long-term strategy to expand its presence across the United Kingdom.

The discount retailer, which already operates more than 1,000 branches nationwide, has set its sights on reaching 1,500 stores across the country.
