AC Milan are hopeful of wrapping up the signing of Manchester City’s Kyle Walker after further talks on Friday.

Milan are waiting on whether City will allow the 34-year-old to leave on a free before making official contact and the Italians will offer him a two-and-a-half year contract.

That deal will rule out Milan from signing another British player this window such as Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United striker remains a target for Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona while Napoli have considered an approach.

Milan have Chelsea’s Joao Felix on a list of potential alternative targets.

Felix joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for £42.7m in August, having previously spent the second half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Stamford Bridge.

However, he has only started three Premier League games under Enzo Maresca this season.

The Portuguese forward has been handed opportunities in cup games instead, and has seven goals to his name this term, but has still been unable to consistently force his way into Maresca’s starting XI.

Maresca has previously spoken about the difficulty he faces in playing Felix and Cole Palmer together, and this tactical conundrum has restricted Felix’s minutes.

He could now look for more game time elsewhere, with Milan emerging as a possible next destination if they opt to pursue a deal.
