After the New York Jets suffered their fourth-straight defeat with a blowout at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers is taking more personal accountability than after last week’s loss.

Rodgers said he’s ‘got to play better’ as New York’s season seems to be slipping away.

Sunday night’s 37-15 loss was also the Jets’ first game since they acquired Davante Adams and second contest since it fired former head coach Robert Saleh.

After last Monday’s loss to Buffalo, Rodgers was overly critical of teammate Mike Williams. Six days later, his tone had changed.

‘I got to play better. That’s the key. I got to play better. Find a way to run the ball better, so we can actually pass. I thought did some nice things in the passing game. Breece obviously had a couple of really nice ones. Spread the ball around Tae, G and Allen. Mike had a nice conversion, but we got to run the ball better, and I got to play better,’ Rodgers said.

Rodgers also said stopping listening to the media will also help the team. When asked to clarify what outside noise the Jets needed to block out, the 40-year-old stated ‘all of it.’

‘And it starts with me. The energy, for whatever reason, at halftime, was a little flat. I felt like it was flat before the game too. So I could look at myself and what I can do to bring better energy, but we all got better,’ Rodgers continued.

There is a tremendous sense of a win-now mentality around the Jets due to Rodgers’ age.

Not many other teams in NFL history have bet their franchises on a player in their fifth decade of life with no previous results for their franchise.

The Jets will be 2-5 heading to face the Patriots next week in a must-win situation.

New England is only one of three NFL teams with a league-worst one win through seven weeks.
