Prince Andrew backed King Charles’s move to oust Queen Elizabeth II’s key aide, in order to protect Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s position in the Royal Family, a new book has claimed.

Royal author Omid Scobie has claimed that Charles, then the Prince of Wales, enlisted Andrew to convince the Queen to remove Christopher Geidt from his post.

Scobie writes that the Duke of York had his own issues with the Geidt due to his vision for a slimmed-down monarchy.

Geidt wanted to cut back on funding Andrew and his family “in particular, monies for Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice” according to the royal author.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are not working members of the Royal Family.

Scobie adds that “Andrew knew Charles also wanted to cut his family out when his turn on the throne arrived, [but] he felt it would be one fewer obstacle if Geidt was no longer around.”

Geidt eventually stepped down in July 2017 and Edward Young was promoted to the head position as his replacement.

The alleged move from Charles and Andrew was compared to “something out of monarchies in the middle ages” by a source in Endgame.

Scobie claims Princess Anne and Prince Edward “believe that letting Geidt go was the worst mistake of the Queen’s later years” and disapproved of their siblings’ decision.

Scobie also claims that King Charles’s delay in granting Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet their Royal Family titles still hurts Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have distanced themselves from any collaboration with Scobie on his latest work.

The royal author claimed that King Charles delayed giving Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, the titles of prince and princess for six months.

Scobie writes that the King told Prince Harry he would make the titles official in early 2023.

He adds that the subject was then mentioned causally to Harry by the monarch’s press secretary the following month.

A friend of the Sussexes told Scobie that the couple “see the way their children are treated differently” to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, which is “hard to feel comfortable with”.

The Royal Family updated their official website to reflect Archie and Lilibet’s new titles in March 2023.
