Former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng urged Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey not to stray “out of his lane” after talking down the British economy.
The Conservative MP criticised “gloomy” economic forecasts issued by the Bank after Bailey said Britain’s growth outlook is the “worst I’ve ever seen”.
Kwarteng pointed out that the Governor was previously wrong after claiming the UK would enter recession in 2023.
