THE Government is ignoring the cost of living crisis while it is focussed on an “internal Tory psychodrama” over the Rwanda Bill, according to Labour’s Shadow Culture Secretary.
Thangam Debbonaire told GB News: “Isn’t that interesting that what we’ve got this week is a Prime Minister who doesn’t seem to be interested in inflation and the cost of living crisis. He’s just focusing on an internal Tory psychodrama to do with the Rwanda Bill.
“Inflation has gone up a lot. My heart goes out to the people who already at the moment are working out, ‘how can I get to the end of the month?’
“Do you know, what they probably…don’t need to see the figures to know what was happening because they can work it out in their own finances.”
In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, she continued: “It’s so desperately disappointing to see a government that just doesn’t seem to want to govern anymore. That’s what governments are supposed to do.
“I don’t hear a peep from Rishi Sunak from this weak Prime Minister or any of his ministers about how they’re dealing with the problems that are actually facing working people up and down this country, and that will be a difference with a Labour government.
“I really hope we have a General Election soon so we can offer up that choice to the great British people and they can make their minds up.”
She added: “What we’re getting from the Tories is they’re not even bothering to govern. All they care about at the moment is their own arguments. I think it’s a disgrace.”
