Thomas Skinner has hit back at Keir Starmer following the Prime Minister’s claims about economic growth benefiting ordinary people.

The former Apprentice star responded directly to Starmer’s social media post celebrating GDP figures, dismissing the suggestion that a growing economy translates to fuller wallets for the public.

“Keir, people in the real world ain’t feeling what you are talking bout,” Skinner wrote on X. (sic)

The Prime Minister had stated that easing cost of living pressures remained his top priority, pointing to fresh GDP data as evidence the country was moving in the right direction.

“Today’s GDP figures show our economy is growing. That means more money back in your pocket,” Starmer posted.

Mr Skinner was quickly responded on the social media site, urging the PM to look beyond the statistics.

The businessman pointed to widespread pub closures and small enterprises battling relentlessly increasing costs as evidence that Mr Starmer’s optimism was misplaced.

“Families across the nation are scrutinising every penny they spend,” Mr Skinner argued.

He took particular aim at agricultural policy, claiming farmers were receiving no backing whatsoever from the government.

This lack of support, he suggested, was driving up fruit and vegetable prices as Britain becomes increasingly reliant on imported produce vulnerable to weather conditions abroad.

“The weekly shop is so expensive,” Mr Skinner stated.

The entrepreneur accused the government of squandering taxpayer money rather than channelling resources towards the people, businesses and local communities that form the backbone of the country.

Mr Skinner challenged the Prime Minister’s narrative by questioning why high streets remain deserted if households genuinely had extra cash to spend.

“People don’t wanna see or hear all ya nonsense, they want lower bills, real support for farmers and small businesses, and more money left at the end of the month,” he wrote.

Concluding the lengthy statement, he issued a final plea, signing off: “Sort it out fella. Bosh.”

The exchange sparked a divided reaction on social media, with users split over Mr Skinner’s intervention.

“You think people are struggling now? Wait until your lads get in. If Reform is the answer you’re asking the wrong questions,” one responded.

Another asked: “What’s the solution Tom, cos I ain’t seen anyone with a decent idea yet unfortunately.” (sic)

Someone else echoed: “Pubs have been closing for 20 odd years. Our high streets have been decimated by online shopping.

“I realise that you want to go back to some kind of apples and pears fantasy of how Britain used to be, but it’s not gonna happen, things have changed.”

“Haven’t you just bought a new Bentley? haha Pipe down lad,” another added.

However, others were in support of Mr Skinner’s post, with one replying: “That’s a very good response. Shame he doesn’t listen or care. Socialism for you.”

“Exactly Tom!! Insurance costs up 20% Council tax up 5% etc etc We are not buying his lies,” a different X user added.

Another simply penned: “He’s away with the fairies Tom.” (sic)
