A cheap holiday destination has been dubbed the ‘Maldives of Turkey’ – but with far lower prices.

If you’re keen to enjoy the beauty of the south Asian hotspot but without the matching price tag, you might be in luck.

DoubleTree by Hilton Antalya Kemer has been handed the nicknamed as a result of its beach cabanas that mimic the paradise haven, according to The Sun.

The all-inclusive resort is nestled along the Mediterranean coast in northern Kemer in Turkey, meaning it is not only cheaper, but also far closer to the UK.

It boasts a private beach, full-service spa, pool, pier – and beach cabanas, the most common image associated with the Maldives.

In terms of food, there’s plenty on offer, from food trucks to à la carte restaurants, a chocolate house, an ice cream corner, and bars.

The resort has five restaurants, seven bars, and 10 gourmet food trucks.

Plus, the hotel has 324 spacious rooms designed with modern comforts.

The beach cabanas in the sea certainly evoke the ambience of the Maldives

They each have luxurious Serta Suite Dreams mattresses and complimentary WiFi.

You can even book a room with a view of the sea or mountains to elevate your stay further.

The cost of staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Antalya Kemer is also part of its appeal, with high prices being a major reason some travellers forgo visits to the Maldives.

Unlike exorbitant trips to the Maldives, which The Sun reported can be approximately £4,500, this is far more affordable.

Rooms can cost as little as €167 (£145) for a night for a two-person or three-person room.

That’s in comparison with the Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa where a one-night, one-bedroom villa costs upwards of £1,317.

Travel to Turkey in general is far cheaper, with research showing a five-day trip to Antalya in Turkey will cost Brits around £640.

Lonely Planet says: ‘The largest city on Turkey’s western Mediterranean coastline is both classically beautiful and stylishly modern.

Pools and activities for children are also on offer, making the resort family-friendly

‘The old city wraps around a splendid Roman-era harbour with clifftop views of hazy-blue mountain silhouettes that are worth raising a toast to.’

If you’re keen to lie by the pool and soak up some rays, this is perfect –  the hotel has a private beach, with loungers and parasols available to use.

The private cabanas on the beach are, naturally, a huge Maldives-style draw.

There are also three freshwater pools, as well as daily entertainment and activities. The Kids Club includes a supervised kids-only pool.

For those looking to get active on holiday, there are many sports and leisure options available, from tennis to billiards, darts, table tennis, basketball, and a full-service spa.
