It is recommended to book getaways for the next couple of months before the end of the year as prices can ‘jump as demand peaks’, the expert explains.
Maria revealed the top destinations for warmer weather in January and February, and Valletta, in Malta ranked first.

Elsewhere, Cape Town in South Africa ranks second on Maria’s list, and has average highs of 27°C in January and February.
Visiting then will land you in the midst of the destination’s summer months, guaranteeing dry and sunny weather.
Flights are more expensive than Malta, and price at around £450 for a return trip in January from London.
Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, places third with its highs of 28°C and promises of Caribbean relaxation.
Those hoping to jet off to the tropical spot can grab return flights from around £480 in January.
One popular summer holiday destination has proven to be a good place to visit in the cooler months.
Tenerife ranks fourth, putting the Canary Islands in the top five and reaches highs of around 21°C in January and February.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka places fifth and holidaymakers can enjoy the start of the dry season along the coast in January. It reaches highs of around 32°C.

Elsewhere, Morocco’s capital, Marrakech, ranks seventh and Florida finishes off the list in eighth place.
