Tucked away in the Scottish Highlands is a remote village which is only accessible by boat.
Located by Loch Nevis, Inverie is made up of whitewashed houses and a tiny population of around 120 residents.
The tiny community on the Knoydart Peninsula has no links to mainland roads and can only be reached by ferry, which can be tricky during bad weather.
It’s a seven-mile journey from Mallaig, a small fishing village, that takes around 30 to 45 minutes.
And, when poor conditions prevent the Western Isles Cruises service from running, there is no other way to enter or leave the village, meaning many have got stuck.
MV Western Isles also offers a service, but this is only on weekdays between April and October.
For those who want to try and access Inverie by foot, there is an 16-mile hiking route through tricky terrain in the Highlands.
Some locals do travel around by car inside the village, but these were brought in by barge, National Geographic tells.

Inverie has two Guinness World Records – one for being the most remote village and another for being home to the most remote pub in Great Britain’s mainland, the Old Forge Pub.
The village also boasts stunning landscapes to enjoy and explore, as well as a range of wildlife.
Jackie Robertson, who has lived in Inverie for 30 years and previously owned the Old Forge pub, gushed over the village she calls home.
She told National Geographic: ‘We’ve got a majestic landscape—wide open spaces, good fresh air, changing seasons.
‘And we’re very fortunate, we’ve got a complete array of wildlife on our doorstep—otters and badgers and pine martens, dolphins in the water, eagles and seals.
‘It’s a very symbiotic relationship with both nature and the animals.’
The Old Forge is now owned and run by the local community and plays an important part in bringing everyone together.
Jackie explained how ‘the pub is the conduit’.

Locals come together at the Old Forge during hard times and celebrations, and traditional Scottish music can often be heard.
The landscape is well-loved, too and the John Muir Trust is working to re-wild part of Knoydart after ‘centuries of burning and over-grazing by sheep and deer’.
The trust’s site reads: ‘Over the last 30 years, we’ve planted native tree species and controlled deer numbers to improve biodiversity.
‘Now we’re seeing the natural regeneration of birch, oak, hazel, rowan, Scots pine and other tree species.’
