- Stone Cold has revealed he is seven-weeks post-op from a vital surgery
- The 60-year-old retired over two decades ago due to multiple knee injuries
- Veteran’s last appearance in the ring came at Wrestlemania 38 in 2022
WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has revealed that he recently underwent a long overdue knee surgery.
The 60-year-old remains one of the company’s most iconic stars despite having been forced to retire in 2003 due to multiple knee injuries that affected him in the ring.
During the peak of his powers, Austin’s trademark look included a black knee brace which aided issues he picked up from his college football days at North Texas State University.
The WWE Hall of Famer suffered an ACL injury in the 1980s but opted against undergoing surgery due to the strength in his quads and hamstrings at the time.
In October 2024, Austin revealed that he urgently needed a surgery as his knee problems had worsened.
Speaking at the time, he said: ‘I’m telling you like it is… I need a new left knee here pretty quick’.

Austin took to Instagram to share brutal the before and after photos of his surgery
The WWE legend underwent the procedure, which he admitted he had been putting off for some time
On Tuesday, Austin took to social media to reveal that he is seven weeks post-op – and is already back in the gym as part of his recovery.
He shared photos of X-rays on his knee before and after the surgery via Instagram and wrote: ‘How it was. And how it is,
‘I am 7 weeks post op on a Total Knee Replacement. My left knee was on its last leg, and I have been putting this surgery off for years.
‘Post op X-Rays show everything is healing nicely.’
Austin then thanked his doctors before adding: ‘Before starting PT, I came out of the gate aggressive and started walking way too soon and too far and really p****d off my new knee. Total Knee Replacement is a year long healing process, so I don’t know what the hell I was thinking.
‘Swelling is still an issue, but things are healing up nicely and getting solid. I am back in the gym and training. Nothing heavy yet. And no squats…
‘I have my sights set to race in The Mint 400 outside of Las Vegas, NV with the team and my teammate in 7 weeks.’
Austin has not wrestled since making his first appearance in almost two decades at Wrestlemania 38 in 2022.
