Wolves have made a rival £10million offer for Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos as his on-off move to Fenerbahce stalled again last night.
The 31-year old had been expected to arrive in Istanbul on Monday night ahead of being presented as a Fenerbahce player but terms were still be finalised.
The Brazilian centre back was the main target for Jose Mourinho as Mail Sport reported earlier this month and a fee was agreed around £10m.
However, talks faltered and the deal seemingly fell through with Fenerbahce then trying and failing for Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly.
Fenerbahce’s fierce rivals Galatasaray also enquired about Carlos before Mourinho’s club returned to negotiations.
Villa have been trying to secure a replacement with Sevilla’s Loïc Badé their main target but they have been waiting for Carlos’s future to be resolved.

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira wants two centre backs this month and is interested in Carlos
They made an offer for Badé which is understood to be around £17m but Sevilla are pushing for £25m.
Wolves though have now stepped in and hope to persuade Carlos to make the short move across the Midlands.
They have been pursuing two centre backs for this window having already signed Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims early in the month.
