A man who fell through the surface of a frozen lake in a Boston suburb while trying to save his dog, who had likewise fallen in, was rescued by firefighters on Sunday, January 12.
Drone footage released by the Wellesley Police shows officers pulling the man from an ice-covered Lake Waban in Wellesley, Massachusetts, on Sunday. Later footage shows officers rescuing the dog, named Tommy, from the lake after the man had been taken to shore.
Wellesley Police said that the man was in the “freezing-cold water” for about 12 to 15 minutes. He was treated by Coastal EMS paramedics and transported to Newton Wellesley Hospital, while the dog was treated for hypothermia at a local 24-hour vet. Credit: Wellesley Police via Storyful
