The San Francisco 49ers believe Brock Purdy will return next Sunday for their huge game against Buffalo Bills.
The quarterback is out of Sunday’s game against Green Bay Packers with shoulder soreness as the 49ers, who are 5-5, fight to make the postseason.
They face the Packers tied second in the NFC West alongside Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams, meaning Purdy’s absence comes at a terrible time for last season’s Super Bowl runners-up.
According to Adam Schefter on Sunday morning, San Francisco believe Purdy will return next week and there is ‘not a high level of concern’.
That said, Schefter added that the 49ers also expected Purdy to play against the Packers and now isn’t, so it is clearly a fluid situation.
Purdy is expected to be re-evaluated on Monday and the 49ers are also in the running to sign Daniel Jones after his release from the New York Giants on Friday.

But there is hope in the organization that Purdy will return next week against Buffalo Bills
Next week, the 49ers face the Buffalo Bills, meaning Purdy’s potential return would be a massive boost.
Kyle Shanahan’s team are also without defensive end Nick Bosa on Sunday against Green Bay due to a left hip problem.
‘We’re missing two good players, definitely,’ Shanahan said. ‘But we’ve got a lot of good players out there.
‘By no means do we not have a chance to win. We’re going to fight our tails off and expect this to be a real good game.’
Brandon Allen will start in Purdy’s place against the Packers, who are 7-3.
‘The circumstances are what they are, but I think our team — all year long we have been dealing with injuries here and there, and it’s been a big next-man-up mentality,’ Allen said about replacing Purdy.
‘So it’s definitely an opportunity for me to go out and play well and put our guys in a good position to win the game.’
