Drivers have been warned to expect severe delays on one of the UK’s busiest motorways after a serious collision brought the roads to a halt.
The M6 is currently operating with roughly 90 minutes of delays and five miles of congestion after a vehicle collision caused an HGV trailer to overturn.
The incident which took place earlier this morning has caused lane one of the M6 northbound to close between J13 and J14 near Stafford as emergency roadworks get underway to repair a damaged barrier following a collision.
National Highways warned drivers to avoid the section and to allow extra time for the journey.

Sharing on social media, the agency said: “If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
National Highways stated that area teams are en-route to repair the damage caused by the collision.
Traffic Officers are on scene with recovery of the vehicle and being arranged. Lane 1 of the motorway still remains closed northbound between J13 and J14 while barrier repairs get underway.
Delays are expected to last for 50 mins with approximately five miles of congestion.
