GB News presenter Bev Turner has expressed embarrassment over Sir Keir Starmer’s appearance at the Cop29 climate summit in Azerbaijan.
“I’m embarrassed”, Turner said on GB News. “We are there on the world stage when all the other leaders of the world aren’t there.”
The People’s Channel star criticised the Prime Minister’s enthusiasm for international appearances, adding: “He loves a global stage, doesn’t he? Even when he’s out there doing things that aren’t in the best interests of this country.”
Sir Keir Starmer attended the climate conference in Baku, where he unveiled a new target to reduce Britain’s emissions by 81 per cent compared with 1990 levels by 2035.

The Prime Minister arrived late Monday night for the Cop29 summit, which helps set the UK’s net zero goals.
Speaking from Baku, Starmer emphasised his commitment to moving away from fossil fuels for electricity generation by 2030.
The summit notably lacked several key world leaders, with the heads of China, France, and the US among those absent.
Political commentator Piers Pottinger blasted the summit as an “absurd conference” and a “pointless exercise”.

“China is not there, America is not there, Germany is not there, nor France. It’s a pointless exercise,” he said.

He further attacked Labour’s climate approach, claiming their targets and figures were “plucked out of thin air” and that their plans were “completely impractical”.

“The two key priorities for me on all of these engagements with our partners is: our economy and economic growth and border control and border security – they are the two dominant themes,” he said.
The Prime Minister highlighted his success at the UN General Assembly in September, where he secured a £10billion investment from Blackstone into the UK economy.
He emphasised that border security discussions had featured in recent meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The Prime Minister emphasised he would not dictate lifestyle changes to meet climate targets.
“We set out the target, which is an important, ambitious target, what we are not going to do is start telling people how to live their lives,” Starmer told reporters.
He stressed his government would “tread lightly on people’s lives” despite expert suggestions that dietary changes and reduced travel might be necessary.
When questioned about potential restrictions on private jets, Starmer confirmed he would not be implementing such bans.
