- Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon was delayed after an injury setback
- He had some strong words for Belal Muhammad and vowed he would ‘crush’ him
- Muhammad will next defend his welterweight belt against Shavkat Rakhmonov
Conor McGregor launched an explosive attack on UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in a now-deleted rant on X, vowing he would ‘cave his skull’.
Dana White announced over the weekend that Muhammad, 36, would defend his title against Shavkat Rakhmonov in Las Vegas on December 7.
McGregor, meanwhile, saw his much-anticipated comeback fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 cancelled in June after he suffered a broken toe.
He had been scheduled to step into the octagon for the first time since breaking his leg during his defeat at the hands of Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
Taking to social media, McGregor vented his fury over his delayed return – describing it as ‘harrowing’ – and had some strong words for Muhammad.

But on X, McGregor vowed he would ‘cave’ Muhammad’s skull to take the UFC triple crown
‘I’d love to crush my left hook into Belal’s temple and take the triple crown,’ he said in a now-deleted post on X.
‘I’d do it easily. And fast! I’d cave his skull heavy!’
McGregor then added: ‘The hurdles I face getting back to the octagon are just harrowing.
‘I am so sad over my June 29th fight cancellation.
‘To think this bum [Muhammad] is not a UFC champion with zero knockdowns on his resume whatsoever is so bad.
‘The UFC’s most abysmal zero revenue generating fighter in modern history.’
McGregor is still to return to the octagon after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021
Muhammad was crowned the welterweight champion via unanimous decision after his five-round showdown against Leon Edwards in July.
‘Remember The Name’ has won 15 of his 19 bouts since making his debut in 2016 but his first fight with Edwards was declared a no contest after he was poked in the eye.
McGregor, however, is eyeing up become the UFC’s first triple-division champion.
The outspoken Irishman became the very first UFC fighter to hold two belts simultaneously after he downed Eddie Alvarez in 2016 to claim the lightweight title.
